Shot for Wilson’s Bar for Blackbook Nightlife Guide.The PR guy I shoot for called me and told me to hurry up and get to wilson’s bar in culver city. He needed a shot last minute to be submitted for publishing by 930am the next morning.  It was already almost 7pm and the sun was setting.After about 10 minutes of adjustments, shooting, and composing the shot how I wanted, I realized I couldn’t pull the detail from the blackberries how I wanted.Using flash was a no-go as I was shooting on the counter of a bar with customers everywhere, and I didn’t have time to adjust everything.Without a tripod and already at f1.4 / 1/50 / ISO 1600 pushing the limit for my equipment and for the light, I still needed to get more light for the blackberries.I was worried I might not get the shot I needed.I only had about 20 more minutes of light from the sun and the ambient overhead lights of the bar weren’t ideal, throwing shadows across the blackberries, causing them to come out a few stops darker than I had anticipated.I remembered I had an LED flashlight on my bicycle. I set up the light through my flash diffuser and bounced it off the glossy tabletop of the bar, giving the blackberries a little bit more light. A little mcgyvering helped get the detail from the blackberries that I had wanted instead of just a black blob, and I usable picture, and a happy client.

Shooting 3 nightclubs / restaurants all day today.  busy busy busy busy.  Will post some shots when I’m done.

I’m also shopping around for photographer’s insurance.

So I met up with Louise, Travis, Marcus, and two of Louise’s friends from Santa Cruz.

We were set on painting with light and doing light graffiti, and since it was our first time experimenting with this as a group it was somewhat difficult to get everyone on the same page, but we had a lot of fun.

Looks like I’ll be shooting + staffing the upcoming SWAT El Nino trip to Park City, Utah, in January.

Getting paid to snowboard and take pictures of it? Dream come true.

I’ll also be shooting another restaurant this week. Woo!

My 4th gen ipod broke right when the ipod video came out so I got an iPod video.

Now my iPod video mysteriously no longer functions right when iPod touch is released…
